- the Cathedral newsletter 2002/11/02 A listing of the November recitals and concerts at the Catherdal has been added. 2002/10/03 A listing of the October recitals and concerts at the Catherdal has been added. 2002/06/23 A listing of the July recitals and concerts at the Catherdal has been added. 2002/05/21 On Sunday, June 2, 2002, at 4 p.m. a commemorative service of Lessons and Prayers, Hymns and Anthems will be held in Christ Church Cathedral in honour of the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Invited Guests include The Honourable Lise Thibault, Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec, who will give an Address. Instead of the regular 4 o'clock office of Choral Evensong, the format will focus on prayers and readings of thanksgiving and praise in English and French, interspersed with special music sung by the Cathedral Choirs accompanied by organ and chamber orchestra. The Director of Music, Patrick Wedd, will conduct the choirs of adults, trebles and girls in Handel's "Zadok the Priest" sung during the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth, Crimond's "The Lord Is My Shepherd", and a setting by Henry Purcell of the "Te Deum". Three of the hymns, to be sung by all, are particular favourites of her Majesty the Queen. Following the service, there will be a reception in Wallenberg Square, located in the courtyard behind the Cathedral. The Lieutenant-Governor will cut a Jubilee cake in honour of the occasion. In case of rain, the reception will be held in the Lobby of the Place de la Cathédrale, the office tower adjacent to the courtyard. 2002/05/21 A listing of the June recitals and concerts at the Catherdal has been added. Pitts, Dean are available together as a word document or pdf file. 2002/04/25 Last night, Cathedral Forum approved a new version of the Cathedral Prayer. 2002/04/03 The Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, Her Honour The Honourable Lise Thibault, wil be present for a Service of Celebration for the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, to be held in Christ Church Cathedral, Tuesday, April 9th, at 12 o'clock noon. The service will be a choral Eucharist with The Right Reverend Andrew S. Hutchison, Lord Bishop of Montreal, as Celebrant. Participating clergy will include the Dean and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral, The Very Rev'd Michael J. Pitts. The Cathedral Choir under the direction of Patrick Wedd will sing the coronation anthem "Zadok the Priest" by George Frideric Handel. People may sign the Book of Condolences while the Cathedral is open, starting Sunday, April 7th. - Christ Church Cathedral joins the growing
number of on-line churches and religous organisations
with their own web site.The site, developed over the past
9 months in England and Canada, features a 'virtual'
guided tour with photographs of the Cathedral, plus a
program of services and historical information. At
present the site is English only, however, a French
verison is currently under development and will be
available soon. Please watch this space !
