Young People at Christ Church

Multiple opportunities for you to participate

Youth Group

  • Friendly open atmosphere
  • Talk about your faith
  • Help you build a Christian commitment
  • Develop Christian friendships
  • Serve others (in Christ's name)
  • Encouragement to apply your faith in daily life

We have a calendar of activities each month based on a variety of ideas that we ourselves choose.

  • Mexican Supper and Movie night
  • Café Night and Dart Tournament
  • Week-end get away
  • Dog-Sledding
  • Service opportunities: 30 Hour Famine
  • Preparing Christmas Gift Baskets
  • Performing plays to raise awareness and funds

New in 2006

We explore the greater Christian community around us by participating in events planned by other groups.

  • Diocesan youth "overnight" and Crossroads Youth service
  • Visiting TERRA NOVA the new youth centre in Dorval.
  • Exploring the possibility of a trip to another country to volunteer our services

 

Youth Class

Held Sunday mornings (as an encouragement to keep the Sabbath holy)

  • Lessons are biblically based
  • Encourage honest discussion
  • Help us find out who we are
  • Guide us in our individual journey of growth and action in the faith ("Faith without works is dead.")
  • Help us to live a life that honors God
  • Help us acknowledge the need for God's guidance
  • Encourage the reading of God's word
  • Encourage regular prayer, requesting guidance
  • We support each other and we thank and praise our God (who is always faithful.)
  • We try to see our importance "in the body of Christ as a whole"
  • Many opportunities to participate

o  Skits or plays related to themes in the church year

o  Reading during Sunday service

o  Teaching junior Sunday school

o  Helping with Sunday school activities such as the Christmas play and family lunch.
