Holy Baptism
Baptism is a sign of our new life in Christ, uniting Christ with his
people, and initiating us into the corporate life of the Church. In our
tradition baptism takes place in the context of full Sunday worship, most
commonly at the 10AM service. We prefer that all children and adults who are to
receive the sacrament of Baptism undergo some period of preparation. In the
case of infants presented for baptism, preparation is undertaken by the parents
of the child. Please call the church office or e-mail the church for more
information.
Confirmation
Since confirmation represents a mature reaffirmation of the faith, especially by
those who were baptized as infants or small children, all confirmation
candidates, whether adults or teenagers undergo extensive training and
preparation before being presented to the Bishop for confirmation. While in the
past, the Anglican Church encouraged young teenagers to prepare and receive
confirmation at about thirteen, increasingly it is our preference to encourage
our young people to wait until later in their teens, so that this experience can
become more meaningful. If you are interested in the sacrament of Confirmation
for yourself, or your teenager, please contact the office for more information.
Weddings
Here at the parish of St. Andrew and St. Mark’s we are happy to speak to you
about the possibility of you sharing your wedding day with us. We expect that
it will be your preference to celebrate your wedding with a traditional Anglican
wedding rite, though we are open to some innovation. Our main church
accommodates approximately 250 people, and for smaller parties, we also can make
use of a beautiful original chapel built in 1898 that holds up to 80 people
comfortably. All weddings that take place in the parish involve a period of
preparation, which includes a marriage preparation course; one strongly
recommended is given by our diocesan Centre for Lay Education.
Our fees are available on request, and include the time of the rector,
the use of the church, a fee for the organist, and a small contribution to the
Altar Guild. For more information, please call the Parish office for
information and to make an appointment to see the rector. Civil and Canon Law
require a minimum of thirty days notice before a marriage may be performed. For
a wedding held in the Parish, however, you need to apply much earlier in order
to reserve a date and complete the premarital counselling sessions.
The Reconciliation Of A Penitent (Confession)
Contact the priest to make an appointment.

In Times Of Sickness
Remember to let the church know if you or a family member is ill so that
they may be visited, and receive prayers as desired. A priest will pray with
you and offer counsel. The sacraments of Holy Communion and Holy Unction are
available. If you enter the hospital, register as "Anglican" so that the clergy
can find you, or have a relative call the Parish office (514-631-3601) so that the clergy can
be notified. Please be aware that women who normally use their married name
will be registered in hospital under their maiden names, so let the church know
under what name a patient is registered.
