Father Edward Simonton OGS Dear Friends, It has been a busy winter and it looks to be a busy spring for our parish. All is well. It is easier to write letters to you when there are problems. Yet, like I said, all is well. There are only a few pieces of information to pass onto you. The first is that Ann Caster has been elected the President of the Altar Guild and Penny Bertrand the head of the Flower Guild. The second bit of exciting news is that we have received another Quebec Religious Heritage Grant. This grant has been given to us to restore the floor in the entire church to its original wooden floor. We are looking to place an oak floor in the church sometime in the early summer. While we have all of the pews and furnishing up we will also see if any changes need to be made to the chancel. We will install a runner rug up the middle of the church after the floor is down. There is also some though of trying to get the pews sanded are revarnished while they are up. If the pews are also refurbished then the restoration of Christ Church will be complete. Although there is pointing to be done to some of the stonework outside, I think this can be left for another incumbency and maybe even another generation. If any of you would like rides to church on Sunday or are willing to drive someone who is unable to make it on their own would you please contact Byan Rourke at 834-2118 or John Clague at 834-3905. You should also expect to receive the first mailing of the new Stewardship Committee sometime later this spring. I would ask that you give it the due consideration it deserves. The current leadership team of our parish is truly remarkable. We are only able to do the huge amount we do because of their support and attention to detail. I hope to see many of you this Holy Week as the disciplines we have worked on so hard during Lent begin to pay off and the green blade begins to rise from the buried grain. Yours in Christ, Edward OGS |
