A Prayer for our Visioning Process

Loving God, We thank you for the many blessings you have bestowed upon St. George's.

We pray that we may be open to the guidance of your Spirit.

So direct our Parish that we may discern the future you are calling us to as we journey in faith.

Support us as we dare to be vulnerable with you, encourage us as we dare to take risks with you, that we may be your kingdom people, now and always. Amen.

A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR ST. GEORGE'S IN THE 21ST CENTURY:

OPERATION GEO-STRAT

As we, the members of the Ministry Liaison Team (MLT), reviewed St. George's current situation, we found it characterized by the following:

1. Dwindling financial resources
2. High costs for the repair and maintenance of our church buildings
3. A slow decline in parish membership and volunteers, and
4. The expectation of a large outlay for a new church roof.

Feeling a sense of urgency, the MLT resolved to establish a St. George's Strategic Visioning Team (GeoStrat).

Mandate

The mandate of GeoStrat is to investigate and consider all options, weigh the economics, and create a written strategic plan for St. George's, which will offer the best course of action to ensure the ongoing mission and ministry of our church family.

GeoStrat will be made up of a Steering Team consisting of a Chairperson, a recording secretary, the People's Warden and Rector as ex officio members, and three other members. The Steering Team, after identifying various possibilities and situations, will assign project managers the task of researching specific areas of interest. Each project manager will be given a job description, informing them of the area of their work, to whom they report, and how long the task should take. As part of its mandate the Steering Team will also gather internal parish statistics. All the various reports will then be put together as part of the process of developing the strategic plan.
